June HOA Board Meeting Highlights
The Walker's Ridge Board of Directors met this week for a called meeting to resolve a few pending matters. The official minutes will be approved at the Board's next monthly meeting, but we want to share some of the updates with you now. We have already announced the appointment of Ben Lawton on the Board. Debbie Alford has stepped up to serve as HOA President and Diane Huie is serving as HOA Secretary. Brittany Harvey is the current Treasurer and is seeking a replacement. Also, the Vice President office is open as well as the Communications, Social, Grounds, Playground and Swim Team Committee Chairs. If you are looking to become more involved there is no better time! Please email email@example.com and a Board member will be in touch! The loan for neighborhood improvements is scheduled to close before the end of June. To that end, the Board has made the following decisions in order to satisfy some of the requirements of the loan:
The Clubhouse HVAC will be installed by Stanco as soon as possible after closing. The Board received and reviewed multiple bids and voted to award the contract to Stanco.
The playground pictured below will be installed as soon as possible after closing. The current footprint of the playground will need to be expanded in order to accommodate the structure. Additionally, the swings will need to be moved in order to satisfy the 8' clearance safety guidelines. In their current location, they pose a danger to passers-by. New mulch and railroad ties will be installed. The board did price more accessible mulch options, but the cost was far in excess of the budgeted amount.
The drain pipe repairs will also begin as soon as possible after closing.
The Board also discussed several of the concerns expressed by neighbors concerning violations of pool rules and payment for the use of the clubhouse. New Pool Rules signage was approved at a previous meeting and will be installed soon. The Board members agreed to research the process for imposing consequences on homeowners for breaking the established rules in order to help ensure the rules are followed by everyone. The clubhouse rental fee is charged for all private use of the clubhouse. Entities that use the clubhouse for events that are open to all members of the neighborhood and are not for profit are not charged a fee. If a paying member requests to rent the clubhouse during one of the non-paid events, the non-paying group will be rescheduled. SAVE THE DATE: August 19th at 3 PM HOA Homeowners Meeting (nothing will be voted on at this meeting)
